WHEN IT RAINS, IT DRAINS

Stormwater Action Alert Program (SAAP)

The Stormwater Action Alert Program is designed to alert urban water users to take action. Alerts are based on the meteorological and geographical characteristics of the watershed. Some of the parameters include prolonged dry periods - followed by storms, flash flood guidance, repeat rain events, and more. The actions outlined for water users should reduce the stress on the combined sewer/storm systems and allow for the infracstructure to handle the runoff more efficiently --- reducing and possibly avoiding overflows and backwashes into local waterways.  The purpose of SAAP is to protect water quality.

Alert and Educate

SAAP is designed to be a way to alert water users to take quick actions, but this program is also a way to educate and inform water users of their personal responsibility to water.
